Essentialism

5 Mindful Tips towards a Happier Life by @talkwordytome_

Day 5: Essentialism

“Essentialism is not about how to get more things done; it’s about how to get the right things done. It doesn’t mean just doing less for the sake of less either. It is about making the wisest possible investment of your time and energy in order to operate at our highest point of contribution by doing only what is essential."- Greg Mckeown

If I had a nickel for every time I operated at my highest point, I'd have ....just a nickel. Lol investing in my time and doing only the essential tasks that make my family and I happy is a new goal I have! The hubs and I have talked about what makes us happy, and we narrowed it down to spending time together and making memories with our kids. That's pretty hard to do when I'm dictating our lives with a detailed schedule and letting my phone direct my attention away from my kids.

As I was writing this post I had to set my phone down to soothe Coco Suri and I was rewarded with the best cuddles! I spent over 20 min thinking I should prob move so I can grab my phone and finishing posting, but that thought was ridiculous! I rarely get full blown cuddles anymore and nothing could be as important as this moment with her. It's essential to put my daughters needs first, and make her a priority in my life. Even if it's just for that extra hug or cuddle, she is my world and I want her to always remember that I love her!

I've made many mistakes when it comes to balancing Motherhood and Social Media, and truthfully I know I'll continue to make more as the days go on. But I'm trying to be better, and I recognize that it's better to be in the moment then document it. So here's to you, Moms of the Blogosphere, live in the moment, determine what is essential and move forward with faith that you are doing the best you can and that's enough! "There should be no shame in admitting to a mistake; after all, we really are only admitting that we are now wiser than we once were.” -Greg McKeown
